Megelles Little House Scrap Quilt
Materials Needed
Background 1m plain or light small pattern fabric
Border - 1.2m
Blocks - Various 2 ½” strips, scraps, and blocks 5” square.
My Tilda Scrap House Quilt is 6 x 6 house blocks, and the Blue and White version is 4 x 5 House blocks.
You can make it as large or small as you like.
.
Here are the requirements to make a 36 House blocks
Requirements:
(The amount depends on the size of the quilt you would like to make)
Guide for 6x6 house quilt.
2 1/2" strips of various fabrics
36 x 4 ¾” squares of various fabric
36 x 4 ¾” squares of White, light small pattern
or plain fabric for background
If you would like all your doors the same size and or the same fabrics
To start join two of the smallest scrap pieces together to make a strip at least 5 1/2” long. This is the door section.
Then add a 2 1/2" strip to each side. Press the block and then trim each block to be 5" x 6".
Make sure to centre the middle (door section) when you are trimming the sides.
Cut several 2 1/2" strips from your background fabric to 5" lengths.
Add these to one side of your block.
Your block should now be 5"x 8". Set them aside.

The roof sections are made from two HSTs (half-square triangles).
To make your half-square triangles. Cut blocks of your fabrics to 4 3/4". You will need an equal amount of white and coloured fabric.

Draw a line across the diagonal and sew 1/4" from the line on each side.
Cut along the drawn line and press with the seams to the coloured fabric.

Sew the two HST together as above
And I pressed the blocks again.
Your roof blocks should be 8" x 4"

Lay your blocks out and place them as you like. (I could wait so see what it looked like so I took this photo before adding the sides on.)
Sew the roof sections into a row.
Add one extra 5" background strip to the LHS side of the first block and then sew the rest of the blocks into a two.
When joining your rows centre the roof blocks with the door sections.

Now your houses are done. Add a border and quilt as desired.

What a beautiful quilt! I’d love to make it but am also having issues with words and measurements being cut off. I’ve gone to your blog to look for the PDF pattern but can only find a pic of the quilt w/no instructions. I’d be so grateful if you would email the PDF pattern to me: mahowells66@gmail.com Thank you! Martha
