My Victorian Garden Quilt – Pattern Instructions
A Pretty, Easy Quilt You Can Make Today
A simple, pretty quilt pattern made from repeating rectangle blocks. Perfect for showing off your favourite fabrics!
You can make it from different-sized blocks, depending on the fabric you have, and make it to whatever size you like.
Finished Block Sizes

Each finished block is made from two pieces of Piece A and two pieces of Piece B.

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
For the 9" Block (sample size below)
You can repeat the same method for the 6" or 12" size—just use the measurements in the table.
Cut 5" wide strips from your chosen fabrics.
Sub-Cut into Rectangles from each 5" strip cut:
Piece A: 5" × 3½"
Piece B: 5" × 6½"
Make as many as needed for your quilt size.
BLOCK ASSEMBLY
Join Piece A to Piece B
Place A and B right sides together along the 5" edge.
Sew along this edge using a ¼" seam allowance. This is now the A/B rectangular Block.
Press seam toward the darker fabric.
Sew two A/B rectangular Blocks together in opposite directions so the middle seams are offset and DO NOT match. See diagram

Press well. You should now have a 9 ½” square block.
LARGE BLOCK ASSEMBLY (4-Patch Layout)
Take four of the 9 ½” square blocks and arrange them so that the Piece B sections create a “flower centre” in the middle.
And then join the four units together as a 4-patch block.
.

QUILT TOP ASSEMBLY
Lay out all your completed blocks on a design wall or floor.
Shuffle until you’re happy with the arrangement.
Tip: Avoid placing the same print beside itself. Sew blocks into rows.
Sew the rows together.
Press each row in opposite directions to nest the seams.
Add borders if desired.
FINISHING THE QUILT
Layering
Lay out backing (right side down)
Add batting
Add quilt top (right side up)
Baste with pins or spray.
Quilting: Use your preferred quilting style—straight lines, grid quilting, free-motion, or hand quilting.
Binding: Trim the quilt square. Add binding using your favourite method.
Thank you for supporting my small Aussie business. Enjoy the pattern, and happy stitching!
