to my site for "Megelles" (pronounced 'meg-ell-ees') named after my daughters Megan and Ellen. I design and create teddy bears, as well as teach bear making, design stitcheries, quilts, cloth dolls and other things.
From this website you can view & purchase any of my limited edition teddy bears, designer bear making patterns and bear related stitchery and quilt patterns. This website is fully e-commerce enabled to make purchasing easier.

ARTIST BEARS
Each bear from Megelles is an original design. The Collectable bears are mostly one of a kind or very small series of one design. I design and make all the bears and their gorgeous outfits. The bears are generally from 6" to 24" in size. They are very traditional with a "country style" to the finishing details. Often I make them a companion. I love using felted mohair and often age my bears for that vintage look. I use replica shoe button eyes and if suitable use vintage accessories. There is a never ending array of patchwork and quilting fabrics available to inspire me. My bears all have 4 claws on each limb and have the MEGELLES smile. All my bears have a unique Megelles label sewn into the back seam and a swing tag attached detailing the bear’s construction.
I only produce a limited number of bears each year as well as several new designs for bear makers.

BEAR MAKING PATTERNS
Megelles has been creating bear making patterns since 1995. Nothing gives us more pleasure than being able to share our creations with you, so if you would like to have a go at creating a Megelles Bear here are a variety of patterns from 4" - 24". Megelles Bear Patterns are especially designed with the bearmaker in mind. All the patterns have full instructions and include the patterns for the outfits or accessories as photographed.

A LITTLE MEGELLES HISTORY.
Megelles is an exclusive bear making business owned and operated by me, Lisa Dopking.
If you aren't familiar with me or my work, I am one of Australia’s leading bear artists and designers. I have been bear making since 1985. I have won numerous awards in Australia and in 2005 I entered my first Toby Competition and was honoured with a 2005 TOBY Industry Choice Award for my bear Joseph. I was very delighted to be nominated.
My first attempt at bear making was in 1985 after completing a patchwork quilt making course whilst I was based in Sydney. In 1990 I returned to Brisbane and discovered the delights of fur fabric. I am now one of Australia’s most renowned teddy bear artisans. I established my business in 1995 and the unusual name of ‘Meg-el-les’ is a combination of my daughters’ names Megan and Ellen.
Each design from Megelles is an original. I divide my designs into 3 areas:-

I love to use homespun fabrics and embellishing them with vintage doilies and lace. I also like to use the wonderful array of patchwork fabrics available on today’s market.
Designer Bear Patterns for making bears especially designed with the bear maker in mind. All the patterns have full instructions and include the patterns for the outfits or accessories as photographed.
Bear related products small quilts, stitcheries, wall hangings, cushions and patterns to make these items.
